# INSTALLATION

### **Recommended** 

#### Windows:

1. Download the latest `HFW Mod Manager` archive from the download page.
2. Extract the **ZIP** to its own folder (e.g., ***"My Awesome Folder"*** on your desktop), not the game directory.
3. Launch `HFW_MM.exe` inside the extracted ***"My Awesome Folder"*** folder; 

Note: The manager is **not** **installed** locally on your machine.

#### Linux/Proton:

The manager is built natively for Windows. 

To run it on Linux, you must launch it through Steam using Proton.

1. **Download** the latest `HFW Mod Manager` archive from the download page.
2. **Extract the** **ZIP** into its own folder (e.g., a folder on your desktop such as “**My Awesome Folder**”).
3. **Open Steam** and add the manager as a **Non-Steam Game**.
4. Open the entry’s **Properties**, go to the **Compatibility** tab, and enable **Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool**.
5. Set the Proton version to **Proton 10.0‑4+**.
6. Press **Play** and use the app just as you would on Windows.
