# USAGE

Usage

* **Launch** `HFW_MM.exe` - Some users have reported that running it as `admin` helps.
* Provide your game directory in the **startup menu** if it isn’t auto‑detected.
* Click **Browse**, choose the root of your HFW / DS / HZDR installation (the folder containing `HorizonForbiddenWest.exe || DS2.exe || HorizonZeroDawnRemastered.exe`). \
  For example `"E:\Steam\steamapps\common\Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition"`\
  \* This is only required at first launch per game.

1. **Drag & Drop**: Drag a mod folder or ZIP onto the drag 'n' drop area.
2. **Choose Variations**: If prompted, select the variation you want to install or simply Import All.
3. **Inspect**: Click the dropdown arrow to expand each mod and view its variation entries. The [**Preview Panel**](/hfw-mm-docs/ui.md) on the right displays a visual preview along with metadata.
4. Select the checkbox next to the variation you want to reepack. Only one variation can be enabled per mod at a time.
5. Click **Pack Mods** to repackage your mods. The actual package and folder path may vary based on your Settings configuration. By default, it uses **`package/mod`** A custom package.
